| Ordinance Number |
General Subject |
| 2008-86 |
This ordinance amends Chapter V-A, Land Development Regulations, which requires a certification from the School Board stating that sufficient school capacity either exists, or will exist at the time the development takes place, prior to the approval of plats, site plans, master park plans or lot splits that create five or more lots or dwelling units. Chapter V-A, Land Development Regulations, is currently scheduled to expire on December 31, 2008. However, in order to prevent overcrowding of schools until the new School Facilities Element of the Lake County Comprehensive Plan is adopted and enacted, it is necessary to extend the expiration date within the existing school capacity provisions of the Land Development Regulations. Accordingly, this ordinance extends the Chapter V-A Land Development Regulations expiration date to December 31, 2009. |
| 2008-53 |
This ordinance creates Section 6-7 of the Lake County Code, entitled

holders to obtain permits or take other emergency action. |

This ordinance amends and corrects sections of the Lake County Code. Since July 3, 2002, when the new FEMA Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs) became effective, the County has used the North American Vertical Datum of 1988 instead of the National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929 (NAVD 88 and NGVD 29, respectively, are the shorthand references used by the National Geodetic Survey of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration), as the NAVD 88 is now the standard established for vertical control surveying in the United States of America. However, the Land Development Regulations (LDRs) were never changed to refer to the NAVD 88 instead of the NGVD 29. The distinction is important in calculating the elevation of structures in relation to the County’s floodplain requirements. Accordingly, this ordinance is meant to change all references in the LDRs from NGVD 29 to NAVD 88. The Ordinance was recommended for approval by the Local Planning Agency on October 24, 2008. |
